An exquisite villa for ten
The villa is an exquisitely designed five-bedroom villa in the Umbrian hills near Piegaro and Perugia, completed in 2021 and finished to an exceptional standard, within easy reach of Lake Trasimeno.
Tucked seamlessly among the Umbrian hills near Piegaro, the house is a calm and joyful celebration of exquisite natural materials and exemplary style. Completed in September 2021, it was conceived, project-managed and interior designed to an exceptional standard, and it sits in an ancient landscape of breathtaking beauty where the views from the house are matched by the design and artistry within.
The property is arranged as a main house with three large en-suite bedrooms on the first floor, and a guest house with a separate entrance that holds two further spacious en-suites. Built from warm, local stone in the vernacular style, with a tiled roof and an elegant chimney, the property draws its interior inspiration from Scandinavia, Italy and the Sixties, blending them into a clean, subtle, cohesive whole for up to ten guests.
Natural materials, including oak, marble and linen, form a backdrop for specially commissioned artwork and furniture. Curves complement angles and the functional details are never forgotten: the expertly equipped kitchen is supported by a second side kitchen, there is floor cooling throughout, Sonos systems in every bedroom and meticulously designed lighting. A vast painting by Italian artist Giuliano Cardello sets much of the palette that runs through the house.
The villa is surrounded by roughly a hectare of fenced garden and woodland, where mature oak trees give natural shade. A veranda at the front of the house has a large dining table, and different garden 'rooms', cleverly lit at night, invite guests to sit and relax with views through the trees to the valley beyond. Beautiful curved stone steps lead down to the heated pool (12m x 6m) on a terrace below the house, with sun loungers, parasols and a squishy corner sofa under a pergola at one end.
Located close to Piegaro and Perugia, the villa enjoys a private, tranquil setting without being remote. Guests can discover the delights of Italy's green heartland beyond its gates, from the sleepy medieval town of Piegaro to Città della Pieve and Perugia, and then retreat to the comfortable, considered design of this delightful property. The villa's local team can tailor-make itineraries, arrange a private chef and organise cooking lessons at the villa on request.
