Piedmont is Italy at its most refined and least hurried. A north-western region cradled by the Alps and threaded with glacial lakes, where the Langhe roll away in ordered vineyards that give Barolo and Barbaresco, and Lake Orta and Lake Maggiore lie mirror-still beneath wooded hills.

Our estates here sit apart from the crowds, neo-classical villas set above private water, reached by a discreet lane or a boathouse of their own. This is the Italy of slow autumns, white truffles and long lunches that fade into evening.
